BEN SPICKERNELL

MSc, MRICS

Managing Director

Ben founded Norton Properties in 2008 having formerly worked for property companies in the Midlands and Central London.

Ben's career began in 2000 with UK regeneration developer Allied London before training as Chartered Surveyor in London with Drivers Jonas.  Here Ben worked advising clients such as British Land, Henderson Global Investors, Schroders Investment Management and London & Continental Railways. ​ After qualifying as a surveyor Ben moved to St Anselm a London based property company where we worked on the restructuring of a circa £50m portfolio comprising mixed use, office, mansion blocks and industrial assets.  In 2007 Ben moved from London to Birmingham developer Maximus Group where he worked on project managing courtyard office schemes, as well as a managing a circa £1m rolling refurbishment of a Birmingham City Centre office block. ​ After the downturn Ben setup an asset management company Capstock Asset Management LLP. This focused on advising Landlords on asset management initiatives, managing commercial assets and acquiring distressed properties.   Ben is a keen skier and cyclist and has three young daughters who keep him busy.

TOM SPICKERNELL

Director

Tom trained with BNP Paribas Real Estate in London and specialises in development management and asset management.

Tom began his career in private equity in London before training as as a chartered surveyor with BNP Paribas Real Estate Consultants in London. Tom then joined Knight Frank as part of their development consultancy team advising Midlands based developers on mixed use schemes. He was then headhunted by Graftongate Developments to development manage multiple logistics and industrial developments including Bentley Motors new production facility in Crewe. After the downturn Tom with brother Ben setup an asset management company Capstock Asset Management LLP. This focused on advising Landlords on asset management inititatives, managing commercial assets and acquiring distressed residential properties.

MARCUS HAYES

BSc (Hons)

Director - Business Development

Marcus began his career at a serviced office broker, before moving to Cushman & Wakefield. His work revolved around managing, developing and expanding national occupier acquisition work, and key national disposal campaigns.

Marcus began his career at a serviced office broker, before moving to Global Property Consultancy Cushman & Wakefield.  His work revolved around managing, developing and expanding national occupier acquisition work, and key national disposal campaigns. Marcus was key contact for national firms which included Ernst & Young, AMEC, Balfour Beatty, EE and Wolseley. In 2012 Marcus was responsible for 330,000 sq ft of leasehold transactions. The largest outside London in this period. Since joining Norton, Marcus has been spearheading the drive to develop funding relationships to help drive and expansion of the business. ​Marcus is a keen squash player having represented England.  He his is kept busy by his two young children.
